Front cover attempt 1 and why it isn't suitable

This was my first attempt at a front for my sports magazine. I thought that the colours were bland and that the font used wasn't good enough to attract people walking past in the shops. It was also lacking detail that makes a good magazine front cover and makes it hard to see whether it is a sports magazine or not. This meant that I didn't follow the codes and conventions of a sports magazine as i should. This made me realise my mistakes and helped me make a better front cover..
